The retail industry makes the purchase of goods and services a better experience for customers in every aspect. Retailers exists to make buying convenient, act as a lesion between the consumer and the producer, and can even serve manufacturers by contributing to a positive brand image.
Economically, the retail industry has a great impact. Consumer spending on retail goods drives much of our national and global economy. In addition to providing goods, the industry employs a very, very large number of people. Globally, it employs more people than any other industry, coming in second only to agriculture. The retail industry both serves and employs people regardless of economic status or education, providing much needed jobs, boosting both individual and national wealth.
