The energy industry comprises all of the industries involved in the production and sale of energy. This includes fuel extraction, manufacturing, refining, and distribution. There are a few commonly recognized arms of the energy industry, including fossil fuel, electrical power, nuclear power, and renewable energy industries.
Within each of these categories are further subsets of energy industries, but the point is the same across the board: the world runs on the energy industry—and because of it, as well.
But now, more than ever, our energy use is having noticeable and damaging environmental impacts. More business in the energy industry are leading the way to develop renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources. From creating more sustainable energy to manufacturing cars that run cleaner than ever, the energy industry sees millions of dollars go toward research, development, and manufacturing to allow us to see a more energy efficient future.
